Comments:
The riding as proposed is too large and will limit the ability of an MP to adequately represent constituents. This riding covers 2-3 provincial tidings which have vastly different needs and differences.
A large part of this riding is First Nation communities which have been historically excluded from participation in decision making.
Many parts of this riding would be remote making access to participation difficult. As a resident of Sioux lookout , my current MP's main office is in Kenora which is a 3.5 hour drive away. Where would this new MP base out of ? This riding is vast and makes it challenging to have a meaningful relationship and engagement with the MP. The Commission needs to take a geographical lens when looking at the size of ridings and not a population focus as this is will limit the ability for the MP to adequately engage with their riding.
