I am gravely concerned about the redistribution of the riding of Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing.
I cannot attend the public hearing in Timmins as it is 6 hours away from me.
The riding of Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing is very unique in its make up rural and senior populations and represents 22 First Nations communities. I am worried that these aspects would be overtaken by the urban aspects of Timmins, Sault Ste. Marie if AMK if incorporated into these ridings.
In addition, Northern Ontario is currently represented by 10 MPs and to reduce this down to 9 is extremely upsetting. Northern Ontario is an economic powerhouse for Ontario with Forestry, Tourism and Mining expanding greatly. To reduce the voice for Northern Ontario in Ottawa not only ignores the needs of this area but ignores what Northern Ontario contributes to the country.
Please reconsider redistributing Northern Ontario Federal ridings.
