I would like to address the issue of ridings in Northern Ontario. We don't not have enough and are not fairly represented at either level of government. Toronto area alone has more ridings then Northern Ontario, yet more and more people are moving north.

In my small community we have had numerous people move in from Toronto. Little by little our community continues to grow. Houses that have sat empty now have occupants. Other communities in my district have also had an increase of people from the southern portion, mostly Toronto, of the province move in.

In my opinion, we do not need to be redistributed. What we need, with Temiskaming Shores being a city, is to have our own riding for the Temiskaming District (Latchford to Kirkland Lake). We, as a district, deserve to have our individuality, we need our own riding once again. We need to have a representative to who knows the area and loves the area. Not someone from North Bay or someone from Cochrane. Each district has their own needs and concerns. We need someone to represent us like John MacDougall or Benoit Serre did.

Stop merging Timiskaming District in with our districts, give us back our own voice, show us that we still live in a democratic society and that our diverse district matters!

Thank you,

Christine Benn
