I am thankful for your efforts to make the Nepean electoral district more structured and efficient for Nepean residents.

The proposed redistribution with reduced boundaries significantly reflects the rapid population growth in the electoral district. As the Member of Parliament of Nepean since 2015, I am proud and privileged to serve various communities in my riding who are always an extended part of my family. It makes me sad to think that a few members of my family are being redistributed to other ridings; however, electoral redistribution is essential due to changes in population distribution.

I want to share some of my thoughts on the proposed changes based on multiple conversations with my riding people. The proposed boundaries, Canadian National Highway on the North, Barnsdale Road on the South, Veterans Memorial Highway on the West, and Ottawa River on the East, are well placed, complying with the fast growing nature of Nepean. These deliberate changes make the borders simple and clear for the existing and new generations in Nepean.

However, if any changes can be made to the proposed redistribution map of the Ottawa region changing the boundary of any electoral district, I recommend you reduce the size of Nepean riding even further. More precisely, I recommend moving the proposed Canadian National Highway on the North to West Hunt Club Road. The very legitimate reason for this recommendation is the exponential population growth of Nepean over the coming months due to ongoing residential construction units and new housing permits issued for construction.

Again, please accept my sincere appreciation for all the great work done by the electoral boundaries commission.

Regards,

Chandra Arya
