My name is Melissa Bender and I live in the Township of Wellesley which is part of the Kitchener-Conestoga riding. I have reviewed the proposed boundary changes regarding the Waterloo, Kitchener-Centre, Kitchener-South Hespeler, and Kitchener-Conestoga ridings and wanted to add my thoughts for your consideration.
As a resident of Wellesley, I personally have a much stronger connection to Kitchener-Waterloo than to Cambridge. I frequently shop and visit restaurants in Kitchener-Waterloo. I rarely shop or eat out in Cambridge as it is a 45-minute drive from Wellesley.
That being said, instead of adding a portion of Cambridge to Kitchener-Conestoga, I believe the Forest Hill part of Kitchener would be a more logical neighbourhood to add to the riding. Not only is Forest Hill closer and more connected to the townships in this riding, but Forest Hill is also an extension of Forest Heights, a neighbourhood already in Kitchener-Conestoga. They share the same schools and community centres. They also receive the same newspaper.
