Whereas the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario has proposed a new electoral map which divides the Province of Ontario into 122 electoral districts with the goal of aligning with the electoral quota;

And Whereas, proposed redistribution changes would change the elector districts for Bruce and Grey Counties, merging the Municipality of Brockton and Municipality of South Bruce into a Bruce-Grey-Owen-Sound riding rather than Huron-Bruce, changing the Huron-Bruce riding to South Huron Shores extending further south, and changing the Simcoe-Grey riding to Collingwood-Blue Mountains.

And Whereas, the proposed riding changes impact the County of Bruce, and negatively impact local municipalities interests as the changes will split Bruce County municipalities into other regions which limit the representation available within our County and community of Brockton;

Now Therefore Be It Resolved That the Council of the Municipality of Brockton oppose the change in electoral boundaries, and propose that the electoral ridings remain status quo for Huron-Bruce;

And further that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario, MPP Lisa Thompson, MP Alex Ruff, and MP Ben Lobb.
