Dear Electoral Boundaries Commission of Ontario:
I am grateful to see in your proposed boundaries little change is made to the electoral boundaries of Perth—Wellington, especially as they relate to Minto, Mapleton and North Perth.
In my many years as municipal councillor and Mayor in the Municipality of North Perth, Warden of Perth County, and volunteering with many non-profit organizations I have seen how closely integrated the communities within North Perth and Wellington County are.
The communities of Listowel and Gowanstown in North Perth and the community of Palmerston in Minto are closely connected socially and economically.
Our local newspaper the Listowel Banner, regularly reports on stories from the Palmerston and Drayton areas. Likewise, the Wellington Advertiser regularly reports stories from Listowel and North Perth.
North Perth is in some ways closer to Minto and Mapleton than it is to the rest of Perth County.
I believe it is best for North Perth and northern Wellington County to remain within the same riding boundary.
