Dear Madam;

This letter is in regards to the redistribution of the federal electoral districts. I am not in favour of this change. The rural voice will be diluted by urban concerns in ridings shared with the city of London.

This change would be breaking up the Elgin Community. How will the province deliver social services in the community? The needs of St Thomas, Central, East, and West Elgin are vastly different than those of London and St. Marry's. About fifty organizations could be affected. (e.g., Health Teams, Elgin-St. Thomas Hospital, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, etc.).

The proposed electoral districts unnecessarily fragment Central Elgin. This will dilute the ability of the influence of the MP to address the interests and wishes of Central Elgin. There would also be the potential risk of contradictory positions by M.P.s where they represent competing political parties. The Boundaries Commission needs to review the proposals with public meetings, especially in rural Elgin.

Sincerely,

Margaret Vanhoucke
