Re: Federal Electoral Districts Redistribution 2022

The Township of Huron-Kinloss is aware that the Constitution of Canada requires federal electoral districts be reviewed after each 10-year census to reflect changes and movements in Canada's population.

As part of the proposed changes to the electoral boundaries, the existing riding of Huron-Bruce will be eliminated, and a new riding of South Huron Shores will be created. The proposed riding of South Huron Shores will include the Township of Huron-Kinloss.

Council of the Township of Huron-Kinloss would like to submit an objection to the proposed change. This proposal is not advantageous to the Township of Huron-Kinloss for equitable representation of the current challenges and issues of concern of the residents of the Township of Huron-Kinloss.

The Township of Huron-Kinloss strongly urges the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for the Province of Ontario revise the proposed changes to allow the current boundaries of Huron-Bruce to remain.

Sincerely,

Emily Dance, CMO, AOMC
Clerk
