Please accept the attached resolution from the County of Bruce objecting to the proposed changes to the electoral districts.

Thanks,

County Clerk
Office of the CAO
Corporation of the County of Bruce

Bruce County

Moved by: Councillor Chris Peabody

Seconded by: Councillor Robert Buckle

Date: September 15, 2022

WHEREAS the Constitution of Canada requires federal electoral districts be reviewed after each decennial (10-year) census to reflect change and movements in Canada's population;

And whereas the proposed changes to the electoral boundaries will eliminate the existing riding of Huron-Bruce and create a new riding of South Huron Shores;

And whereas the proposed riding of South Huron Shores will include three (3) Bruce County municipalities, being the Town of Saugeen Shores, Municipality of Kincardine, and Township of Huron-Kinloss, representing 35% of the County of Bruce's population;

And whereas the riding of South Huron Shores will extend across four (4) Counties, being the County Bruce, County of Huron, County of Lambton and County of Middlesex;

And whereas the proposed redistribution and creation of the South Huron Shores riding is not advantageous to the County of Bruce as it extends across four (4) counties and stretches from the north limit of Saugeen Shores to Highway 402 in the south;

Now therefore be it resolved that the County of Bruce submit a written objection to the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission of Ontario objecting to the proposed redistribution of electoral districts that will result in the creation of the South Huron Shores riding.

Carried.
