This submission is to support the request to change the federal electoral boundary that currently places Otonabee-South Monaghan (OSM) Township within the riding of Northumberland-Peterborough South (N-PS). Please consider placing OSM Township in the proposed riding of Peterborough. The lives of many, if not most of the residents of OSM Township are focussed on the city and county of Peterborough where they make most of their purchases, take part in extracurricular activities, and where their friends live. There is a geographic issue as well, with Rice Lake, a relatively large lake, between the township and the rest of the current N-PS riding. The focus of the lives of OSM Township residents is not on the town of Cobourg where the constituency office for the N-PS riding is located.

Over the last few years, the degree of connection between political parties and their representatives with OSM Township residents has been minimal. 'It's not worth it to travel north of Rice Lake to meet with constituents' is the feeling that many residents have.

Please move the municipality of Otonabee-South Monaghan Township to the proposed Peterborough riding.
