I have been reading about proposed boundary changes for North Simcoe, and am concerned. I live in a small retirement community on Bass lake, and from what I have read it appears we would no longer be in Simcoe North, but in Barrie, Springwater, Oro Medonte.
I understand that it is appropriate for the portion of Oro Medonte that includes Horseshoe Valley to be associated with Barrie, as their interests and needs would be more similar to a city the size of Barrie, but the Bass Lake community is closely associated with Orillia, not Barrie. We shop in Orillia, our doctors and hospital are there, and it is "our community". The interests and needs of the people in my area will be lost to the greater city interests. We are much better served by representation from the Orillia area than the Barrie area.
