Dear Mayor Walker and Council:

The Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission has proposed significant changes to the electoral map across Canada, including Ontario.

Please visit: Redistribution of Federal Electoral Districts (www.redistribution.ca)

There are two significant changes proposed for the riding of Simcoe North:

  1. Boundary change: Moving all parts of Oro-Medonte currently in Simcoe North to Barrie Springwater Oro-Medonte (the area commonly known as northeast of Line 9) – for example areas affected include: Hawkestone, Warminster and Bass Lake and others
  2. Name change proposal: to rename Simcoe North to Penetanguishene – Couchiching.

Interested parties (Town/City councils, First Nations and Indigenous communities, Chambers of Commerce, communities affected, including residents) are able to comment in person or by letter/email on the proposed changes for Simcoe North.

How to provide feedback:

  1. Emailed/written comments must be received by September 25th and can be sent to:

    Email: ON@redistribution.ca
    Ms. Paula Puddy, Commission Secretary
Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario
PO Box 37018 Southdale, London, Ontario N6E 3T3

  2. Participate in a virtual hearing on Septemebr 26th. You must register prior to September 25th at: www.redistribution-2022.ca/com/on/phrg/index_e.aspx

Please consider whether your town or city would like to make formal submissions or how you might best inform your affected residents.

I am available to discuss should you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Adam Chambers, MP
