Please accept this submission to request name changes for the following two electoral districts:
- Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte to North-Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte
- Barrie-Innisfil to South Barrie-Innisfil
We are making the requests to better differentiate between the two Barrie electoral districts.
The current dividing line between the two ridings is the center of Tiffin Street. It is often confusing for residents who live in Barrie to determine which electoral district they are part of because the name Barrie appears in both ridings. This has resulted in calls to our constituency offices seeking assistance when they do not live or operate a business in our ridings.
It's also known by those who live in Barrie that there is a north and south Barrie and what we are proposing would help to eliminate the confusion.
