Dear Ms. Puddy:

I am writing to you regarding the proposed new Collingwood-Blue Mountains federal electoral district and specifically about the naming of this new riding.

Using the names of two of our neighboring municipalities to identify the proposed federal electoral district is not agreeable to the greater personality of the great communities that make up this area. As the mayor of a significantly rural and agricultural community of Clearview Township, our social awareness of identity is something we are proud to connect with the counties of Simcoe, Grey & Dufferin. "Collingwood - Blue Mountains" are not our identity. Our municipal council will be discussing this issue at a council meeting scheduled for October 3rd, that is after your deadline for submissions of September 25. I expect there may be a motion of council that will speak to this concern of a change in the federal electoral district naming.

I am asking that the commission consider a more suitable and supportive naming convention and use the counties as their guide in this decision: Simcoe-Grey-Dufferin.
