Re: Proposed changes to Toronto-Danforth

Dear Justice Leitch, Dr. Bird and Dr. Loewen,

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the decennial review of our electoral boundaries.

My name is Syeda Riaz and I am the Executive Director of the Pakistani Community Centre, located just west of Coxwell Ave in Toronto-Danforth. The Pakistani Community Centre organizes community events and provides community services in the east end. We also help organize the Danforth Multifaith Community Walk which brings together faith groups along the Danforth.

The east end is a very distinct community within the City of Toronto. We are home to East Chinatown, Greektown and the Gerrard India Bazaar. By keeping the Don Valley as the western and northern boundary, you are helping to maintain our communities of shared identity. I believe the changes proposed to the Toronto-Danforth boundary are well thought out and will benefit the faith and cultural communities in the east end by keeping them together.

Once again, on behalf of the Pakistani Community Centre, I am pleased to support the proposed boundary changes to Toronto-Danforth and would like to thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback to the Commission.
