Dear Members of the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario,

The Board of Directors of the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Association (SLNA) wishes to express its support for the proposed redistribution of Federal Election Ridings, specifically the proposed new boundaries for Toronto Centre.

The proposed change re-unifies the St. Lawrence neighbourhood – one of the oldest in the City of Toronto – which had been split between two ridings in a previous redistribution.

The St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Association, incorporated as a non-profit corporation in 1983, represents more than 35,000 residents in a mixed-income, ethnically diverse residential and commercial neighbourhood adjoining Toronto's Central Business District. The St. Lawrence neighbourhood extends from Queen Street East south to the rail corridor and from Yonge Street east to Parliament Street. Within its boundaries is the oldest neighbourhood in the (now) City of Toronto – the original ten blocks of the Town of York, dating from 1793.
