I am writing to voice my concern about proposed changes to the federal riding of Don Valley West. I disagree with the proposed separation of North and South Leaside into separate ridings. Leaside, encompassing its areas both north and south of Eglinton Avenue, is a complete community with a rich history. North and South Leaside are deeply interconnected. We have built and share community, recreational, athletic, and commercial resources as well as schools and places of worship.
The interests of Leaside need to be represented by one member of Parliament. To divide Leaside's representation is to complicate and weaken our community's ability to address issues and pursue improvements that are relevant to the community as a whole.
It is my strong opinion that North and South Leaside should remain together in one electoral riding.
