Good evening. I'm writing to contest my area being grouped into the Gananoque-Brockville-Prescott riding. I live at 1133 Unity Road, Glenburnie ON. Glenburnie is really just our neighbourhood name - we are officially located within the City of Kingston boundary. Given that we live in Kingston, it does not make sense to move us to another riding. I'd like to outline some reasons:

  1. Our kids go to school in Kingston. Our area feeds to La Salle Secondary School, and peeling us away from kingston makes as much sense as peeling away the whole east end.
  2. My husband works for Kingston Fire Rescue and I work in Construction in Kingston. We are very tied to our city through our employment.
  3. We currently have Kingston garbage and recycling services, use Kingston police services, and count on Kingston fire services.
  4. I noted school and work above, but our social, cultural, and economic activity all centers around Kingston (not Gananoque, Brockville, or Prescott).
  5. We pay property taxes to the City of Kingston (not Gananoque, Brockville, or Prescott).
  6. The average distance to the constituency office would be 10 km in Kingston versus 90 km in Brockville.

I've always thought better of the Federal boundaries (Provincially we're grouped in with towns to the north and were not able to take advantage of early voting because our nearest early voting station was over an hour away. That, and we have nothing in common with the constituents north of us because we're quite firmly city people) - don't be like the Province and rip us away from the city we've lived in and loved for over 20 years.

Thank you for your consideration.
