My family and I live about 10 minutes from the city of Kingston. While we live in a rural setting, we are part of the City of Kingston and have a solid connection to its urban elements. Our garbage is picked up by its workers, our kids attend school in the city, we stay active on its trails, we are kept safe by its first responders, we get to work on its roads, and the list continues with hundreds of other elements.

Brockville and Prescott seem like great places, but I can count the number of times I've actually visited them on one hand. It's not uncommon for us to head into the City of Kingston just as often in a single day as I would visit the aforementioned towns in a decade.

Clearly, municipal, provincial, and federal politics have a symbiotic relationship. For example, we pay property taxes to the City of Kingston, and it's central to our social, cultural and economic activities. With this in mind, it makes no sense to lump us into the new proposed riding of Gananoque-Brockville-Prescott.

Communities are diverse, and this proposed riding does not accurately reflect the demographics and psychographics of rural households within the City of Kingston borders. Also, it doesn't make sense from a logistic, economic or environmental stance to require people living in the City of Kingston to drive over an hour to visit their elected representative.

Please accept this email as my opposition to the proposed riding of Gananoque-Brockville-Prescott. This realignment doesn't make sense for households such as mine who live and work within the City of Kingston borders. Please feel free to contact me if you require any additional information.

Thanks,

Jason Lucas
