Our household is in the former Kingston and the Islands Riding north of the 401. We were moved to the Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston Riding without consultation. We have had little to no communication with the elected representative for that riding. Now you intend to shuffle us off to the Gananoque-Brockville-Prescott Riding. Please reconsider this idea and reset the boundaries of Kingston and the Islands to include us.
I have lived and voted in that riding since 1967. I have attended University and been employed in that riding my whole career. I retired in that riding, choosing to stay there.
My firehall is 1.5 km west of my residence. It is staffed by City of Kingston personnel. My Police services are from the City. I pay taxes to the City. I belong to the Seniors Centre in the City. I use recreational and cultural facilities in the City. All these are within a half hour drive of my residence. The Offices of the local MP are within a 15 minute drive from my house.
Why would I want to have my Federal MP be located in Brockville? Travel time and gas costs would prohibitive I I wished to visit their office. As a Senior citizen I may soon not be able to drive that far.
Please place us in Kingston and the Islands, where we belong.
