I am writing to air my concerns about the Electoral Boundary Redistribution: Kingston and the Islands. I would like to have our area moved back into the riding of Kingston and the Islands.
It doesn't make sense to me for our area being included in the proposed riding of Gananoque-Brockville-Prescott. I believe it will affect our representation in the government. as we are located a good distance away. Interests of politicians from Gananoque, Brockville and Prescott won't have our interest at heart. Travel from here to Brockville is 90 km making constraints on finances and time. Whereas being located in Kingston would be about 10 km.
We have very little or no finanational relationships in Brockville, meaning shopping, taxes, entertainment, social activities, cultural activities, doctors visits
Our policing, fire services and ambulance services are all in Kingston.
Our shopping, entertainment and secondary schooling are all in Kingston.
In addition to all of that, political issues may very well be different in Gananoque, Brockville and Prescott. than what we have here in Kingston north.
