I write to strongly support the commission's proposal to move Greater Madawaska Township from the existing federal ED of Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke to the new proposed ED of Lanark-Frontenac.
The Township is more properly oriented to the communities and areas to its south – not to those that stretch all the way north to Pembroke and beyond. Its rural communities are increasingly connected to the recreational and busy activities spilling north from the capital region. This transformation is being reinforced by the significant improvements to the transportation routes that connect the Township into the areas covered by the proposed Lanark-Frontenac ED. Under your proposal The communities of interest of the Township residents would be more clearly aligned with their natural neighbours than by leaving them bound to the larger towns to the north.

I urge the Commission to maintain its plan to reorient Greater Madawaska in a fashion that will strengthen effective representation for its residents.
