Recently we were made aware that there is consideration to redistribute the addresses within the city of Kingston existing north of Highway 401 from Lanark Frontenac to Gananoque, Brockville, Prescott. I agree we need to be moved from Lanark Frontenac, as we do not belong in a riding where the seat of such is essentially an hour plus away and is more connected to Ottawa than Kingston. That said, it is almost as wrong to set us within GBP, the seat being Brockville, almost an hour away. We may as well be lumped in with Quinte as Belleville is just as far away.

Those of us north of the 401 are deeply connected to the City of Kingston, not these other municipalities. Most of us have very little to do with them at all unless we are travelling through them to Ottawa or Montreal. We pay taxes to the city of Kingston, we are served by their fire, police, solid waste, recreation and other municipal services. Many of us work at CFB Kingston, Queens, the Kingston Hospitals or other government agencies and ministries/departments, all located in Kingston. We have minimal if any socioeconomic connections, personal connections or economic uses for Brockville, Carleton place, Perth or Prescot and frankly, Gananoque is a tiny nearby town that we rarely take notice of. It makes all the sense in the world to place us in Kingston and the Islands.
