I am a resident of the Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston riding in Eastern Ontario, and a tax payer to the City of Kingston. As a resident of the City of Kingston, I do not understand why we, residents residing north of the 401, were removed from the Kingston and the Islands riding and placed with Smith Falls and Perth, requiring an hour and 27 minute drive to get to our local MP's office.

It doesn't make any sense to me that Kingston residents north of the 401 are not in the Kingston and the Islands riding. Prior to 2013, we were always part of Kingston and the Islands. We pay taxes to Kingston, rely on the City's services, go to school and work in the City, access commodities and medical services there, play sports there, and attend community events there. Why are we separated from our neighbours who reside South of the 401?

The latest proposal is to put us in a riding with Brockville and Prescott, which will require us to travel 85 km to our new MP's office. I don't know what the reasoning behind this displacement is. I strongly disagree with this proposal and feel that we should be placed back in the Kingston and the Islands riding where we belong, with our own city.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Sincerely,

Victoria Donaldson
