Dear Ms. Puddy,

On September 1st, 2022, we received a letter from our Member of Parliament Charlie

Angus regarding the proposed plan by the Federal Electoral Boundary Commission to cut one of the federal seats in Northern Ontario. This report comes while municipal councils are dissolving to prepare for the upcoming elections. Any plan to cut the representation of Northern Ontario in the federal Parliament will most assuredly impact the interest of our northern municipalities in a negative way.

The result will mean more municipalities will be forced to compete for limited funding. For ordinary citizens, accessing their MP offices will be more challenging. This is a concern when considering passport delays and immigration services in the north, both of which are handled by our MP offices.

As a small northern Ontario community, we already are at a disadvantage when requiring specific services and travel and costs incurred are a factor. We have serious concerns when faced with the possibility of the Federal Government depleting our representation in Parliament.

In closing, we are reaching out to you today to express our concerns with the proposed cuts and the impact it will have on all northern Ontario municipalities. Please take this into consideration prior to making any final decisions. We want and neecl-to be heard in Parliament and believe that cutting one of our seats may result in silencing our voice and diminishing are ability to be properly represented.
