The proposal to consolidate Northern Ontario electoral boundaries from 10 to 9 is unacceptable.
Under representing individuals from Ontario's most Northern communities is shameful. It would appear that the proposed Kiiwetinnong-Mushkegowuk would offer Indigenous individuals a specific boundary, but truthfully it would silence half of an already under represented population by removing a second seat; a second voice.
Northern Ontario is not over represented. Our most Northern communities have very specific needs that vary vastly from those in Southern Ontario. To add another seat to the already overly represented Brampton area is ridiculous.
