I am writing to express my concern about the proposed electoral district redistribution which would see a new riding created that would encompass south London, St. Thomas, and the rural area between. This would create a riding that makes no geographical, historical, or political sense. The concerns and needs of the residents of south London are different of those residents in the rural areas and in St. Thomas. Several communities will be divided, resulting in challenges for the delivery of services to these communities. Our local governments, as well as our federal representatives, and past representatives universally share these concerns. I encourage the commission to reconsider the proposed boundary redistribution, and to instead create ridings that serve and represent communities rather than dividing them.
