Subject: A New Electoral Map for Canada

Hello,

Here is my proposal for 342 federal electoral districts across Canada.

https://bit.ly/Canada342

The proposed ridings use population counts from the 2021 Census recently released by Statistics Canada. I will update this map periodically with revised boundaries if I find a better alternative.

Also, there's an interesting discussion about the federal redistribution going on here:

https://talkelections.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=467200.0

I will not be participating in the public hearings.

However, I wish to present a revised alternative proposal for the Commission to consider.

Sincerely,

Alan Hall

In contrast to the Commission's proposal, my alternative would:

  • keep the City of Saint John united in a single riding
  • set the population of each electoral district as close as reasonably possible to the electoral quota (77,561)
  • maintain the bilingual nature of New Brunswick by keeping three ridings with over 60% French mother tongue, and significantly increase the French share of the population of Moncton--Dieppe (from 36% to 45%)

Please see the tables below.
