Northern Ontario must be treated fairly. Ridings in rural New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Labrador, Saskatchewan and Prince Edward Island have smaller populations than Northern Ontario and their ridings are not being reduced. Northern Ontario has a right to be fully represented as other rural and northern regions of Canada are represented.

Your decision will have a significant impact on Northern Ontario. The francophone and indigenous people who make up a large proportion of rural north residents have a right to engage with their Member of Parliament in meaningful ways. Already many northern ridings are larger than European countries. One of the new ridings proposed will be larger than 500,000 sq. km.. Please ensure the boundary decisions you make will improve engagement and increase not only fairness but also the perception of fairness.
